Šolski center Ljubljana

School Centre Ljubljana is located in the centre of Ljubljana, between the Roman Wall and Aškerčeva Street on the foundations of ancient Emona – this is what Ljubljana was called in the times of the Western Roman Empire. There are numerous colleges, cultural institutions and monuments in its neighbourhood. In 1911, at the time of its construction, the building was one of the most beautiful architectural achievements in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

In 1993, the General Grammar school was started in the building as part of the then Secondary School of Chemistry.

In 1998, the Ljubljana School Centre was opened, and the General and Technical Grammar school was one of the four units of the Centre. With the new founding act of 2 September 2008, the Secondary Chemistry School and the Secondary Mechanical Engineering School were merged into one organisational unit, and our Grammar school was renamed the Anton Aškerc Grammar School.

Today, the Ljubljana School Centre has five units

– Grammar School Anton Aškerc

– Mechanical and Chemical Engineering High School

– Woodwork High School

– European School Ljubljana

– Higher Vocational College

The Grammar School of Anton Aškerc counts 250 students and 22 teachers. Our students are quite active and creative, they participate in various extra-curricular activities. They participate in many activities at national level, e.g. I Breathe Dance, Play with Me- workshops for children, fundraising for an animal shelter, Climate Solidarity Run. We publish a school newspaper every year and take part in various competitions on a regional and national level.
